TDFT (Tabora Development Foundation Trust)

Tabora Development Foundation Trust (Non-profit making organisation) was founded in the year 2001 by a group of development practitioners to respond to the development needs of rural and urban population of Tabora region. In terms of the organization, TDFT is governed by a board of trustees comprising of five members and a small secretariat of three permanent staff supported by an advisor working on full time basis. TDFT is supported by a considerable group of volunteers.

The organization’s general objective is to contribute towards the eradication of poverty through empowerment of communities in socio-economic and political aspects. Specific objectives include:-
To strengthen the capacities of CBOs by empowering them, so that they become the representatives of their own societies and generators of sustainable development, and to promote basic social services for the rural and urban communities focusing on women, children and vulnerable groups.

TDFT for the last fifteen years has implemented a number of programs in a bid to achieve the stipulated mission and vision. The program includes other cross cutting issues such as HIV & AIDS, Gender, Water & Sanitation improvement, Lobby & Advocacy.
